I Read My Bible and Prayed Instead of Playing Video Games

What’s the bravest thing you’ve ever done when no one was watching?

When I was single, it was tempting to play video games and waste time. However, I took up the free time I had to grow spiritually in the Lord. I started reading the Bible every day for several hours.

I read the Bible all the way through in sixty-seven days. It showed me that all of the Bible is connected. It’s obvious that the divine mind wrote it.

Those early practices prepared me for loss, ministry, marriage, joy, heartache, and more. Reading the Bible and praying helped prepare me for when reality strikes against ideals. Our God can handle anything.

Consider the words of Paul:

11 Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned, in whatever situation I am, to be content. 12 I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. 13 I can do all things through him who strengthens me.

(Philippians 4:11–13, ESV)
