When is it mean to be a good person?
Sometimes the truth hurts, but it’s never mean to be a good person. Sometimes you have to tell people the hard truth that sin is sin and people need to repent of it. Yet, people take that as being mean.
At accusations like that, think of this illustration. If your house were on fire, would I be mean about telling you to get out? No, after you believed me, you would probably thank me for warning you. It would actually be mean if I didn’t warn you of the fire.
That is what Jesus Christ has done. He told us to tell people the harsh truth that the world is on fire and the only escape is through faith in Him, His sacrifice for our sins, and His resurrection.
Bad news: we have all lied, used God’s name in vain, stolen, and looked with lust. We are lying, thieving, blasphemous, adulterers at heart. We all deserve to burn in Hell for all eternity.
Good news: God is rich in mercy. He sent Jesus Christ, truly God and truly man, to live a sinless life, die on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins, and rise from the dead three days later. God calls all people everywhere to repent (turn from sin) and trust in Jesus Christ to save them from sin.
God will seal His people with the Holy Spirit, who keeps His people saved, transforms them from evil to Good, and keeps them holy. God makes everything better.

Good certainly does make everything better.
