Introduction

For most of human history, the truth that God made only two sexes has been so obvious that people hardly felt the need to discuss it. It was “water‑cooler knowledge,” common sense grounded in both Scripture and observable reality. Yet today, this simple truth has become a point of intense cultural debate.

But Christians do not form their worldview from cultural trends. We form it from God’s Word — and God’s Word speaks plainly:

“So God created man in his own image… male and female he created them.” (Genesis 1:27, ESV)

According to Scripture, humanity is created in two sexes — male and female — and this truth is woven into biology, creation, and the very image of God.

Sex Is Biological, Not Psychological

The modern world has attempted to separate “gender” from biological sex, treating gender as a feeling rather than a physical reality. But Scripture never makes this distinction. In the Bible, gender is simply the lived expression of biological sex. God assigns roles to men and women based on the way He created them.

• Men are called to protect, provide, and lead with love.
• Women are called to nurture, support, and build the home.

These roles are not arbitrary. They flow from God’s design in creation.

Biology Confirms What Scripture Declares

Biology has always affirmed what Genesis teaches. When my wife was pregnant with our children, DNA tests revealed their sex long before birth. The girls had XX chromosomes. Our son had a Y chromosome. The doctor even joked, “I bet you thought you couldn’t make one of those, didn’t you?”

Chromosomes do not lie. Cells do not lie. Biology does not lie.

Every cell in the human body — except red blood cells and reproductive cells — carries either XX or XY chromosomes. This is true from conception to death. Even skeletal remains thousands of years old reveal whether a person was male or female.

At the most fundamental level, sex is written into the human body.

The Culture’s Confusion Does Not Rewrite Creation

Today, some claim dozens of genders — even identities based on seasons or abstract concepts. But Scripture does not recognize these categories. Nature does not recognize them. Biology does not recognize them.

God created humanity “according to its kind.” He made male. He made female. He made nothing in between.

The idea that one can be whatever one feels is not rooted in creation but in human imagination. Feelings do not determine truth. God does.

What About Genetic Exceptions?

Some point to rare chromosomal conditions like Klinefelter syndrome (XXY) or other genetic abnormalities as evidence that sex is fluid. But these conditions represent less than one percent of all live births and are understood medically as disorders — consequences of the Fall, not new categories of sex.

Exceptions do not redefine the rule. Mutations do not rewrite creation. Abnormalities do not overturn God’s design.

Just as Down syndrome does not redefine normal human genetics, chromosomal disorders do not redefine male and female.

Human Identity Is Not Self‑Defined

Some claim, “I am a man trapped in a woman’s body,” or vice versa. But Scripture teaches that God created each person intentionally, purposefully, and according to His design. Our identity is not self‑constructed; it is God‑given.

The Christian response is simple:

“God made them male and female in His image. God made you how He intended you to be.”

This is not cruelty. It is compassion rooted in truth. God’s design is good, and living according to His design brings peace, stability, and joy.

Why This Matters for Society

When culture denies the reality of biological sex, confusion spreads into every area of life:

• bathrooms
• sports
• safety
• education
• medicine
• family structure

If men can identify as women, then women’s sports collapse. If biological males compete against biological females, the results are predictable — and dangerous. Scripture’s boundaries protect human flourishing.

Christians Must Stand Firm in Truth

Believers may face pressure, accusations, or even consequences for affirming what Scripture teaches. Some have lost jobs, relationships, or opportunities for standing on God’s Word. But God rewards faithfulness.

It is better to stand with God on judgment day than with the shifting ideas of culture.

God’s Design Brings Joy

God’s truth is not burdensome. It is beautiful. When men and women embrace their God‑given identities, families flourish, children thrive, and society stabilizes. The union of one man and one woman brings new life into the world — a gift God has blessed for thousands of years.

Creation is clear. Scripture is clear. Biology is clear.

God made two sexes — not seventy‑two.

And His design is good.
