What’s a book you never finished but still think about?
It’s common for people to not finish what they started. I wasn’t trained that way. If I want to learn about Jesus, I need to put in the hard work of studying the Bible. I spend hours a day studying the Scriptures to know and love Jesus more.
I started small. I would read a few chapters a day in different books of the Bible and think about how they affected my life. I felt like I knew the Bible, but I wasn’t mastered by the Bible.
In college, when I was single, I went big. I read for five hours a day. I was able to finish reading the Bible in 67 days. It was a challenge, but it taught me something. The Bible is super connected. Every part connects to all of the other parts in some way. It was as if a divine mind wrote this, and God did.
He wrote a book over a period of 1,500 years by 40 different authors in three different countries. It has fulfilled prophesy, is accurate on science, and speaks on real people and cultures. It’s true, 100% of it.
Most importantly, it speaks of Jesus: our need for Him to forgive us for our sins; his atonement, providing peace with God for our sins; His resurrection, overcoming the results of sin; his ascension, ruling over His people, interceding for their sins; and His return, his future wiping out of sin.
I’ve read the Bible start to finish for fourteen years straight now. Fourteen times I’m still not finished with it, because God is not finished with me.
