What’s one thing you own that holds deep sentimental value?
My Grandfather was a pastor in the 1970’s and a missionary to Zaire and Nigeria for over fifty years. His passion was to teach others to read the Bible simply and understand it. I say simply because he approached all of life that way.
He taught people the most rational way to go about everyday things. Whether it was sweeping the floor or living life, my grandfather taught the most practical way of doing things. He even taught me how to practically study and preach the Bible.
He passed over six years ago. I have pictures of him, his books he wrote, the Bible he studied from every day, and his ordination certificate. Each one is precious to me because they once belonged to a man who wanted everyone to have a Bible and read it simply as God’s Word.
Bad news: we have all lied, used God’s name in vain, stolen, and looked with lust. We are lying, thieving, blasphemous, adulterers at heart. We all deserve to burn in Hell for all eternity.
Good news: God is rich in mercy. He sent Jesus Christ, truly God and truly man, to live a sinless life, die on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins, and rise from the dead three days later. God calls all people everywhere to repent (turn from sin) and trust in Jesus Christ to save them from sin.
God will seal His people with the Holy Spirit, who keeps His people saved, transforms them from evil to Good, and keeps them holy. God makes everything better.
