Introduction

One of the clearest teachings in Scripture — and one of the most attacked truths in our culture — is God’s definition of marriage. In a world that insists morality is fluid and truth is subjective, Christians must anchor themselves in what God has revealed, not what society demands.

The creation account is not vague. It is not symbolic. It is not open to reinterpretation. It is God’s authoritative declaration of what marriage is, why it exists, and who has the right to define it.

And that right belongs to God alone.

Marriage Begins in Genesis — Not in Culture

Genesis 1:27 tells us:

“So God created man in His own image… male and female He created them.”

Genesis 2:24 follows with the first marriage covenant:

“Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.”

Before sin entered the world, before culture existed, before governments were formed, God created marriage. He designed it as:

• one man
• one woman
• united in covenant
• becoming one flesh
• for life
• for God’s glory
• for the good of creation

Marriage is not a human invention. It is not a social construct. It is not a flexible arrangement that changes with cultural winds. Marriage is a divine institution rooted in creation itself.

Because God created marriage, He alone defines it.

Why Homosexual Behavior Contradicts God’s Design

Homosexual behavior is not condemned in Scripture because God is harsh or arbitrary. It is condemned because it directly contradicts the created order.

God made:

• male and female
• complementary bodies
• complementary roles
• complementary design
• complementary purpose

The “one flesh” union is not merely emotional or symbolic — it is physical, covenantal, and reproductive. It unites two complementary sexes into one unified whole. Homosexual behavior cannot fulfill this design because it rejects the very structure God built into creation.

Scripture is consistent from Genesis to Revelation:

• Genesis 19
• Leviticus 18:22
• Leviticus 20:13
• Romans 1:26–27
• 1 Corinthians 6:9–10
• 1 Timothy 1:10

Every passage treats homosexual behavior as sin — not because culture said so, but because God said so.

Homosexual behavior is not simply “another lifestyle.” It is rebellion against God’s created order, just as adultery, fornication, pornography, and any sexual sin is rebellion against God’s design.

God’s Rights Over Creation Override Human Courts

In 2015, the United States Supreme Court declared same‑sex marriage a legal right. But legal rights do not create moral rights. Courts can redefine civil law, but they cannot redefine creation.

God’s rights over creation outrank:

• the Supreme Court
• Congress
• cultural opinion
• academic theories
• personal feelings

When human authority contradicts divine authority, Christians must stand with God.

Why Christians Cannot Affirm Homosexual Relationships

Christians are not free to redefine what God has defined. We cannot bless what God calls sin. We cannot celebrate what God condemns. We cannot participate in what God forbids.

This is not hatred. It is obedience.

Christians must:

• love people
• show compassion
• speak truth
• refuse compromise
• uphold Scripture
• call sinners to repentance

Affirming sin is not love. It is cruelty. True love tells the truth — even when the truth is unpopular.

The Image of God and the Value of Every Person

While Scripture condemns homosexual behavior, it affirms the dignity of every person. Every human being — regardless of sin, struggle, or lifestyle — is made in God’s image.

This means:

• we treat people with respect
• we speak truth with compassion
• we call sinners to repentance
• we offer the hope of the gospel

Christians must never mock, belittle, or dehumanize anyone. We confront sin because we care about souls.

Gospel Call

Let’s be honest: whether your sin is sexual immorality, pride, lying, lust, greed, anger, or rebellion — you have broken God’s law. You have sinned against a holy God. And Scripture says:

“The wages of sin is death.”

If you’ve ever lied, stolen, lusted, hated someone, or used God’s name in vain, you are guilty before God. He sees your heart. He knows your thoughts. He will judge your life in perfect righteousness.

And if God judged you by the Ten Commandments, you would be guilty — just like every one of us.

But here is the good news:

Two thousand years ago, Jesus Christ — fully God and fully man — lived a sinless life. He never lusted. He never lied. He never sinned. Then He willingly went to the cross to take the punishment you deserve.

He absorbed the wrath of God. He paid the penalty for sin. He died in your place. He rose from the dead. He conquered death.

And now He commands you to repent — to turn from your sin — and trust in Him alone for salvation.

If you repent and believe, God will forgive every sin, cleanse your heart, give you a new nature, and grant you eternal life.

If you refuse, you will face God’s judgment.

Your sin — whether sexual sin, pride, unbelief, or anything else — cannot save you. Your good works cannot save you. Your sincerity cannot save you. Only Jesus Christ can save you.

Run to Him. Trust Him. Submit to Him. Follow Him.

Because God said — and it was so.
