1 Timothy 2:8-10, ESV: “8 I desire then that in every place the men should pray, lifting holy hands without anger or quarreling; 9 likewise also that women should adorn themselves in respectable apparel, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly attire, 10 but with what is proper for women who profess godliness—with good works.”
I was checking my email on yahoo.com the other day, and I could not help but see the news feed. I don’t like seeing the celebrity photos or the articles showing off the women’s body. I noticed that there was a celebrity who was showing unedited bikini photos of herself showing off her backside. She said that she posted this because she was trying to overcome her biggest fear, what she just posted. She was afraid to show cellulite. Here is my problem with this.
- Her biggest fear should not be what her body looks like, but an eternity in Hell for her sin. Without Jesus, she is going to eternal conscious torment.
- She just caused millions of people to sin by looking at her bikini photos. The body is a beautiful thing, but because of sin it needs to be covered up and only to be fully seen by yourself, your spouse, and God. She has caused so many people to lust after her for showing off her body. “but whoever causes one of these littleones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone fastened around his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea.” (Matthew 18:6, ESV).
- Even in her unedited photos she is still beautiful but she is trying to say that she is not.
- She makes people like my wife feel bad because she is setting up an image that my wife can’t measure up to.
I posted a picture of my wife to show how a godly woman adorns herself. With good works. She is 1,000,000,000,000 times more beautiful to me because she is a follower of Jesus Christ. She is a wonderful mother. Plus she looks awesome. My wife’s cellulite looks hot to me, because she is my standard of beauty. She is also modest. She should not be ashamed of her body because God has made her that way for His glory.
