I am a pastor, teacher, and author of the Using Hermeneutics Series. I love the subjects of interpreting the Bible, apologetics, and evangelism. I love to use these subjects to help people know and love Jesus more.

Curious as to why there is a glaring violation of the Second Commandment and abomination hanging on the wall behind you. https://purelypresbyterian.com/2016/05/03/three-reasons-images-of-god-are-idolatrous/

I’m not in charge of the decorations of the church, but, from their standpoint, they would say that it is not an actual image of Jesus but a representation of Christ in the same way that the cross is a representation of the substitutionary atonement for our sin. No one prays to or bows down to this representation of Jesus. I do understand and agree with the reformed position that these images that represent Jesus are dangerous and could be idolatrous. I will bring it up to the church to take the image down to keep brothers from stumbling. But I am not in charge of it.
